Dear Friends today I am going to discuss the warning signs of kidney disease. Mostly the early signs of kidney disease are missing in most people. They appear only when it becomes too late. More than 37 million American adults are living with this disease and the surprising thing is that most of them don’t know about it. There are many physical signs of this disease that people which sometimes attribute to other conditions. Also, people suffering from this disease have late symptoms. This is one of the biggest reasons that only 10% of people know that they are suffering from kidney disease. Dr. Joseph Vasalotti, Chief Medical Officer at the National Kidney Foundation says that the only way to know about this disease is to get tested for kidney disease. He also shares 10 possible signs you may have any kidney disease. The risk of kidney disease increases if the said person is suffering from high BP, Diabetes, a family history of kidney failure, or if you are older than 60 years.
1. IF YOU ARE FEELING EXTREME LAZINESS OR FATIGUE
If you feel more tired and feel like having no energy, may indicate severe kidney failure. A severe decrease in kidney function can lead to a buildup of toxins and impurities in the blood. Due to this the said person may feel tired and less energetic. The said person finds it difficult to concentrate and may suffer from Anemia too.
2. IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING SOUND SLEEP
Improper filtering of blood by kidneys may add toxins to the blood rather than leaving the body through urine. This can result in sleep disorders. Sleep disorder is most common in people suffering from kidney disease.
3. DRY AND ITCHY SKIN
Dry and itchy skin can be a sign of advanced kidney disease because this happens only when our kidneys aren’t able to maintain a balance of minerals and nutrients in the blood. We know the fact that kidneys perform several functions inside our bodies. They remove wastes and extra fluid from our body, help in making blood cells help in keep our bones strong, and maintain the right amount of minerals in the blood. Improper functioning of kidneys means imbalance inside our body which may cause dry and itchy skin.
4. MORE URGE TO URINATE
If the said person has more urge to urinate, especially at night, this can be a sign of kidney disease. When kidney filters are damaged the person feels more urge to urinate. Sometimes this can be the sign of a urinary infection or enlarged prostate in men.
5. BLOOD IN URINE
Healthy kidneys keep the blood cells in the body when they filter urine from the wastes. When the filters are damaged because of kidney disease, these blood cells sneak out of the filters and add themselves to the urine, as a result, our urine becomes red. Blood in the urine may be indicative of tumors, kidney stones, or any infection.
6. FOAMY URINE
If the urine is foamy and you need several flushes to clear it, may indicate that you are suffering from any kidney disease. This foam indicates an excess quantity of proteins in the urine. This protein found in the urine is the same as found in the albumin of an egg
7. PUFFINESS AROUND EYES
Puffiness around the eyes indicates that the kidney filters have been damaged, allowing proteins to leak out into the urine. The proteins which have to be kept inside our body are filtered outside our body because of the damaged filters.
8. SWOLLEN FEET AND ANKLES
Retention of sodium inside our body because of decreased kidney function causes swelling in our feet and ankles. This swelling can also be a sign of heart disease, liver disease, and chronic leg vein problems.
9. POOR APPETITE
The presence of excess toxins inside the blood may reduce our appetite also. This is a common problem from which kidney patients suffer.
10. CRAMPING MUSCLES
Cramping of muscles is a common thing, but if it starts happening more often means that electrolyte imbalance has taken place inside our body because of the improper functioning of our kidneys. Low calcium levels and poorly controlled phosphorous may contribute to muscle cramping.
