The Miracle Of Myth About Diabetes

Person checking Diabetes

Dear friends Ashok, am once again with you. Dear friends, today I am going to share a myth prevailing in our society about diabetes. Some people say that intake of large quantities of sugar is responsible for this disease, which is incorrect. The main reason behind this is the improper working of “PANCREAS”. Friends pancreas is a part of our body that converts all the sugar taken by us into starch. It secretes an enzyme called “INSULIN”. Insulin converts sugar into starch. When this part secretes insulin improperly or doesn’t secrete it at all. During this stage, the sugar taken by us is not converted to starch and is directly added to our blood. This stage is known as diabetes. Now the time starts when insulin is injected into our body through vaccines.

CURE

There is no permanent cure for this disease. Insulin intake can only prolong a patient’s life.

PRECAUTIONS

  1. Take plenty of fibrous food.
  2. Avoid sugar products.
  3. Do regular exercise. Yoga is very much helpful for such patients.
  4. Don’t take rice and potatoes as they contain sugar in them.
  5. Avoid fast food.
  6. Take proper sleep.

According to a global survey, diabetes is becoming increasingly prevalent. In the same way, the myths related to it are also increasing. I am going to explain the types of diabetes first of all so that you may not get confused when you are reading this article.
No doubt diabetes is a familiar word but the biological mechanisms involved are complex. We don’t understand the complexity of this disease. Symptoms of this disease may vary from person to person. It is found in people in common and complicated forms.

There are three forms of diabetes prevalent in people. Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes.

TYPE 1, TYPE 2 DIABETES

It’s an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the cells of the pancreas itself and doesn’t allow the pancreatic cells to secrete insulin. It occurs earlier in life as compared to Type 2 diabetes. Whereas in the case of Type 2 diabetes, the body does not make enough insulin, doesn’t respond well to insulin, or both. Most people today are suffering because of Type 2 diabetes.

GESTATIONAL DIABETES

This type of diabetes mostly occurs during pregnancy. During this time the body needs more insulin. This type of diabetes occurs when the quantity of insulin secreted by the body is not sufficient to fulfill the needs of the body. No doubt this type of diabetes goes away after the birth of a child. There is a possibility of this type of diabetes again in future pregnancies. It may also develop into Type 2 diabetes in the future course of time.

1. EATING SUGAR IS THE CAUSE OF THIS DISEASE

Most of us think that it is caused by eating sugar, as stated earlier. It’s a  MYTH. Eating sugary food can lead to obesity, which may increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes. You might have noticed that all the people who are obese, suffer from this disease whereas some thin people also suffer from this disease. Scientists themselves aren’t able to still understand why Type 1 diabetes develops. Some people fall prey to it whereas others don’t.

2. SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT IT’S NOT SERIOUS

Because the reason that every 5th person is suffering from this disease, most of us think that this disease is not serious. They take it more lightly. It’s incorrect. As all of us know that there is no permanent cure for this disease yet and there are plenty of complications that can occur if not managed properly.

3. IT AFFECTS OBESE PEOPLE ONLY

Some of us think that only obese people fall prey to this disease, which again is false. Many people who are not obese are also suffering from this disease. A survey conducted by the National diabetes control and prevention department shows that 11% of diabetics are suffering from Type 2 diabetes even though they are not obese.

4. EVERY OBESE PEOPLE SUFFERS FROM THIS DISEASE

Some of us also think that every obese people suffer from this disease. This is false again. It only increases the risk of diabetes. It doesn’t mean that every obese person is going to suffer from this disease.

5. NATURAL PRODUCTS CAN CURE THIS DISEASE

Till this time no medicine or natural product has been manufactured or produced which can cure diabetes fully. Some herbal and natural products may have little or no impact on this disease. The medicines available in the market can control it and prolong the life of people suffering from this disease.

6. DIABETES IS COMMUNICABLE

Some of us even think to the extent that it is a communicable disease, which is wrong. You can eat, sit, drink, share clothes, etc. with the people suffering from this disease.

7. PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM THIS DISEASE ARE LAZY

People who are suffering from this disease know that exercise is very important for the management of diabetes. Performing exercise help in reducing weight and controlling blood pressure. Exercise helps the body in utilizing insulin properly. So, it is false that people suffering from this disease are lazy.

8. PEOPLE WITH DIABETES SHOULD NOT DRIVE

It is said that people suffering from diabetes shouldn’t drive. We must have seen people suffering from diabetes safely operate motor vehicles without causing any harm to themselves or others. In case the diabetic person is suffering from certain complications such as low blood glucose level or vision problems. If you are experiencing diabetes-related complications, you are advised to consult your doctor and control your blood glucose level.

9. DIABETES ALWAYS CAUSES BLINDNESS

It is a myth that every person suffering from diabetes becomes blind. No doubt in some cases if diabetes is not controlled for a longer period, it may lead to blindness. Experts reveal that diabetes-related complications may be severe in people suffering from high blood pressure, obesity, smokers, people with low physical activity, and high cholesterol levels in the blood.

10. PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM DIABETES CAN’T EAT SUGAR

People suffering from diabetes also can have treatment. They can use sugar to some extent. Remember they have to keep a check on their blood glucose level. They have to balance the situation which thing to eat and when to eat.
