Dear friends, today I am going to tell you about a beautiful place in Jammu and Kashmir  known to be Bhaderwah(mini Kashmir.) It’s situated 200kms from Jammu. It is surrounded by hills on three sides. The climate of this place is very pleasant during the summer season. The snow-clad mountains add to the beauty of this place. If we start our journey from Jammu, the first town we reach is Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.

Then the next stations are Udhampur, Batote, and Doda, and then finally we reach Bhaderwah. Tourists from all parts of the world visit this town every year. The no. is increasing day by day. Tourists which once used to visit Kashmir, now are visiting this town because of its calmness and terror-free nature. There are so many places worth seeing. One can visit Jai Dhar which is 30kms away from Bhaderwah. The scenic beauty of this place cannot be explained in words. I invite all of you to visit this paradise at least once in your life. Other places worth visiting include’Sarthal’, where you can see a house constructed on a tree in addition to the scenic beauty of this place. I am damn sure that your heart will not allow you to return from this place.

 Dhar is another gift of God given by the almighty to the people who love natural beauty. Govt. of J&K has constructed tourist huts for tourists. In addition to that, a no. of private hotels also have been constructed in the area. ‘Fish Pond’ provides relaxation to our mind and heart. One feels comfortable and leaves all the worries behind while visiting this place. Please visit this place and verify the facts.

When Bhaderwah Became A Part Of J&K

Bhaderwah became part of the J&K Union Territory in 1814. Maharaja Pratap Singh gifted it to his younger brother, Raja Amar Singh when Maharaja Pratap Singh was crowned. The gifted area consisted of Bhaderwah, Bhalessa, and the vast area of river Chenab from Thathri up to Khellani. This place is also known as “NAGON KI BHOOMI”. The history of Bhaderwah is closely related to the history of Kashmir. Kashmir which used to be a lake on time. “JALLODBHAVA”, A water-born dragon started eating and killing snakes in that lake. To protect their lives, they started leaving that place.

Start Of Migration

They started migrating to different parts for their safety. Some of them migrated to Kistwar and some to Bhaderwah. Some of the Nagas settled in Bhaderwah and started being called NAGON KI BHOOMI”. Queen Bhadra was the first queen and Vasuki Nag was the first King of Bhaderwah. Jammu&Kashmir was a princely state during the British East India Company rule in India from 1846 to 1952. This princely State was created after the first Anglo-Sikh war. When the partition of India took place, at that time Maharaja Hari Singh was the ruler of this state. At that time he delayed deciding on the future of his state.

Attacks On J&K

In the meantime, this state was attacked by the neighboring Northwest Frontier Province. Pakistan played the role of a supporter in the raid. Hari Singh then requested the Indian Government for help. Azad Kashmir and Gilgit- Baltistan passed under the control of Pakistan, while the remaining territory remained under the control of India. This small town’s scenic beauty can’t be explained in words. This town is surrounded by snow-clad Pir Panjal hills and is surrounded by dense coniferous forests. Several significant religious and historical places are belonging to both Hindus and Muslims. The famous places here include Seoj, Kanthi, Jai Ghati, Chinta, Nagini mata, etc. This area always has been neglected by the Government here because all the Governments here so, concentrated on Kashmir. 

About The People Of Bhaderwah

The residents of this area are very gentle and sober. They are also very lovable and affectionate towards the tourists who visit there and cooperate with the tourists above anybody’s expectations. They live a simple and hard-working life. This area was also one time affected by militancy. But for the last ten years, it has been declared a militancy-free area. Now people again are living a peaceful life. anybody can roam in that area even at midnight. It has become a safe destination for pilgrims now. Presently the no. of tourists visiting the area has been increasing year by year.

Construction Of New Hotels

So many new hotels have been constructed for the comfort of tourists. Yet these new hotels are not able to accommodate the increasing no. of tourists. The fact remains that now the no. of tourists who used to visit Kashmir are visiting Bhaderwah valley. As requested earlier, please visit this place at least once in your life. I assure all of you that you will get peace of mind here, which you can’t get anywhere in the world. The calmness and the purity of the atmosphere will attract you again and again.

TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

No doubt, this area has been neglected for a long period by successive governments. But now you can find better road connectivity here. Even the people residing here are enjoying the privilege of roads here. Even some of the remotest villages have now been connected with the city via good roads. It will take hardly five to six hours to drive from Jammu to Heaven.
