It is the 5th highest peak in the world. It is situated in Nepal. The first group to climb on it was a French group led by Jean Franco in 1955. Moreover, the specialty of this expedition was that all ten members of the group were able to reach the top of the mountain. and this mountain lies 19km southeast of Mount Everest, in Nepal. The shape of this peak is a four-sided pyramid. Makalu forms a famous glacier valley known as Makalu-Barun valley which is situated at the base of Makalu.

It has gentle slopes which are easy to climb. This mountain is a few kilometers away from Nangpa La Pass which is the major trading route between the Tibetans and Khumbu Sherpas. In the Tibetan language, Cho-Oyu means ‘ Turquoise Goddess ‘. 

On October 19, 1954, this mountain was climbed by Herbert Tichy, Joseph Jochler, and Pasang Dawa Lama. It Takes just 6-9 hours to climb to the top if the weather is clear. Manaslu word is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘ Manasa ‘, meaning ‘ Soul ‘. Its height is 8,163m.
